Comments from the recipient:
This grant will be most helpful in assisting our ongoing development of young athletes in our new throwing program. As part of our initiative to make our track and field program open to a wider variety of athletes, we have added javelin, discus and shot put training for athletes who are not interested in running. Now that the COVID-19 pandemic is hopefully well behind us, school sports and indoor community athletics are all back in full swing. We were able to provide our athletes with the opportunity to experience different track and field disciplines by offering training in javelin, discus and shot put during the 2023 track and field season. Many of our elementary aged and high school aged throwers achieved amazing results at their county meets and several high school throwers advanced to East Regionals. In February and March of 2024 we hope to expand our throwing program with indoor throwing clinics before the regular outdoor track and field season begins in earnest.

Comments from the 100+ Women Committee:
The Foundation awarded $1600 Les Coureurs de Bois Running Club for their Throwing program! With their grant we hope to help them by providing throwing equipment as an extension of their cross-country running and track & field training so that their athletes have a year-round opportunity to remain active and healthy. This will ensure that all athletes who wish to participate in this program (regardless of financial capability) will be able to take part.
